On the Road Again

Wheww. I haven't been able to up date our site due to the fact that we (Shawn, Me, Mave, and Finn) have been state hopping for Residency interviews.
First stop was Boise, Idaho. We both had high hopes for this town and Residency. The town was great and when Shawn interviewed he got some different vibes. He actually interviewed at two; Boise, then a rural one in Crandal which he liked. The drive was nice and sweet, and the two kids had a blast in the hotel pool.

Then after two days of Holiday Inn Express the kids had come down with cabin fever and it was time to head back home, wash the clothes then repack for our trip to Arizona.

We started our Arizona journey out in the wee hours of the morn, around 4:45 and headed off for the airport. What a better time to head for sunny AZ then when an Arctic belt is coming thru Utah. Maverick was absolutely thrilled to board the plane. He didn't hesitate to walk right into the cockpit and check out all the buttons. The pilots chatted it up with him and he came out grinning from ear to ear.
Maverick with his nosed pressed against the window, getting a full view of our take off and landing. He yelled Blast Off when we sped up and took to the open skies. Thanks to my Nephew Russell, who served his mission in AZ, we were able to eat at some great AZ restaurants. We hit Waldos BBQ when we arrived, and then as a send off before we left.

Finley and I are such happy ladies when fed. And with Willey Nelson sitting right behind us. (take a close look!)

The kids were jumping for joy, once we reached Mesa, where we stayed with cousins. Mark and Jamie were so kind to let us invade their home. It was so much nicer than the Holiday Inn. Jamie was a great tourist guide and did her best to convince us on moving to Arizona. We took a drive out to Jordan & Shannon's resort home, which is beautiful. If you ever get the chance I highly advise you to invite yourself out.

We have worn ourselves out. Shawn is heading off to Minnesota next week and that will wind up the interviews. For now, it's good to be home.

A BIG thanks to everyone who helped out with the older girls, which made the trips possible.

Ventura

Were does the sun always shine? In sunny California. Shawn just returned from one of his many interviews. This one was in Ventura, Ca. I really like the "idea" of this one. Almost everything sounds good. 5 min. to the beach, my kids could turn in their snow clothes for a surfboard. And orange, and lemon trees in the backyard. The cost of living in out of control, and we think, maybe we could teach our kids how to fish off the pier and catch dinner. One more thing to add to our prayer list. While there, Shawn was able to meet up with his Aunt Desi and Uncle Jay. They went to Shawn's old neighborhood, and if you can believe, Jay and Shawn threw a football on the street right in front of his childhood home. What a reminiscent time.
They visited the Ronald Reagan Library, when he told me this over the phone, I thought, "why", now seeing some of the pictures I say, when are we going back. Shawn always hoped, and told his parents he was a son of Ron Regan, and he was adopted out, so this probably seemed like going home. One more stop was to his brothers grave site, in Simi Valley, Ca. I am sure this was a highlight to the whole trip. Time is passing and as he interviews at more Residencies I think we just get more excited, and also with that comes confusion of where we should choose for living, work, and possibly to plant some roots. This week I and the two young ones are going to Boise, Id. for an interview. Then were off to Phoenix, Az. and a couple more follow.
Seems like life is one big field trip, and we will soon know where our bus will stop.

A peek at Christmas 2007

Christmas brought a lot of good times with it. Shawn had 2 weeks off, and the kids enjoyed him around as did I, until that second week, then what do you do with a Husband? Honey do list....
Most of our time was kept busy with family outings, and just enjoying the season with each other. the kids start up school on Wednesday, and with a touch of Cabin fever they will be ready to start up once again.
