South of the Border

With a little help from Grandma McManus, watching the 5 little runts we were able to
jet off south of the border to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico for some much needed
fun, sun and a few strawberry daquirie (virgin...of course!)

We had been anticipating this trip and it was well worth the wait.

Friday: *Leave house at 3:30 AM
*Got to airport and find out we have been bumped up to an earlier flight (yeah)
*An eventless flight and hop in a shuttle van with 3 other couples. One couple was from New York (never met a NYorker) and they were just like the movies portray. What a hoot.
*Suttle was pulled over on the journey. Not for speeding, reckless driving which were all present. It was for registration verification.
*Arrive at resort and we are not dissapointed.
*Went right to the buffet and filled up before heading off to the beach. First we had to buy a bottle of sun screen. We both agreed that 15 spf would be fine....(we should have gone for the 30+)

Saturday: *Went to sun our buns and ended up with a nice pink (gradually turn to flaming red)
*We were introduced to our first topless beach. These were not Heff's top models.
*Took a walk downtown on the beach what a pretty view.
*Talked into a vacation club meeting. (hey we got some freebies out of the deal...2 hours later)

Sunday: *Cashing in on our freebie gifts.
*Free boat rides to Cozmel, and a scooter for the day.
*Tropical down pour was free.
*Free admission to Aztec ruins, and Lighthouse wildlife. (we were told to wave our
admission ticket at "The Man" and they would wave us right in.
) "The Man" happened to be the
one selling cold coconuts. Then I start to wonder if we got freebie admission tickets to sites that are FREE!
*Saw some wild pink flamingos on the scooter ride around the island.

Monday: *Hung out at the pool and beach. Shawn was covered from head to toe not wanting anymore burns.Photobucket
*I enjoyed many blended drinks and nachos from the snack bar.
*Walked downtown to get the kids & Grandma knic knacks.
*Peddlers calling us Honeymooners. (ahhh gag don't they see we're vetrans!)
*Enjoying a street vendors taco(or 3) even though we had reservations in an hour.

Tuesday: *3:15 am wake up to catch the shuttle back to the airport.
*Stopped by security to man handle my bag...
*Me looking at Shawn thinking what are they looking for.
Him looking at me like " you cause trouble"
Security looking at me....holding a switch blade knife! (lost in the bag from our summer trip, I am just glad they didn't find a little mexican man hiding in my bag)
* Me trying in my broken spanish telling them its a Toy'o for my Nino. (they ended up keeping it; as a gift from me.) FYI- my espaniol consists of... Kaha (box) Banyo (bathroom) grassyass (thank you) Heffe (boss)
*Dallas airport; got lucky and switched our arrival plane to a direct flight.
*Direct flight has mechanical problems delaying us in the airplane for 3 hours.
*Thinking if we would have kept our original flight we would have been home before we even took off. We didn't mind much I had a steamy book to finish and Shawn watched a movie.

Now were home and thrilled to see our little group.
Happy that Grandma survived with a smile.
And wondering why we didn't stay for a few more days........
maybe next year.
Now if you have read thru this whole post i have a surprise ending....see if you can spot the nudie.
