A day of respect

Every time Memorial Day comes around, Kennedy pleads that we can go and visit the graves. Truthfully, she would ask to visit even if it wasn't Memorial Day. So, we stopped at the store, bought the small pot of Mums and pack up the family for a day to the sites. I remember doing this with my family when I was young. Mom would send us out with a can, or a jar wrapped in foil, or if we had time, we would use masking tape, then color it. Our yard in Lindon, had a beautiful aray of flowers that we were able to pick and cut for this special day. I loved getting the snowballs, and daisy's, and Iris's. To this day, I see an Iris and it takes me back to my childhood yard, and this special day.
We had a good visit with the kids, and looking at the decorated headstones. At one point we saw Kennedy skipping around the cemetery repositioning the flowers that had been blown over. She was completely satisfied and I am so glad she encouraged us to go and remember our loved ones that have passed on.

A day to remember

Maverick finished pre-school, and we were the proud parents sitting second row back. His cousin Jonathon also attended this pre-school. Maverick preformed to par, and then his cousin distracted him. Before we knew it they were trying to out do each other, and their graduation caps were down over their eyes. Grandma McManus came to watch the boys, and when I looked back at her, ( I was picturing tear filled eyes of pride) instead I saw, her smiling sweetly at the little girls, with bows and curls, and singing thier hearts out just perfectly in tune with the teacher. I had to lean over, and remind her that "no matter how much she pretends, those messy boys at the OTHER end of the line, are her Grandsons." Why is it that boys always bring a bit of dust into every preformance?
