One year ago...

One year ago today, our little Finn underwent her first surgery.

Most know that Finley was born with out her palet. That is on the roof of her mouth, she was missing some of the hard palet, and all of the soft palet.

When she was born, Shawn used his medical abilities and checked her from head to toe and actually saw the deformity and notified the Drs. and nurses which had missed this.

Soon after, our hospital room was full of medical personnel. And then our journey to Primary Children's for a consult and surgery dates.

Finley was a small baby and then when we brought her home, she started to loose weight. She was miserable, and so were we. One night during our distress I was hit by a distinct thought that she was not getting food out of the bottles we were using. So we immediately switched nipples to a pricey $40. one and our baby soon became calm as a lamb.

I was so grateful for this small miracle of knowledge.

Her first visit was to a med. mouth dentist who took an impression of her tiny mouth, and then she had her first surgery and had a prosthesis palet screwed into her mouth. She did great thru the surgery and recovered very well. Eating became so much easier and she started to gain weight.

We love Finn and we have been so blessed to have her in our family. She is so content and happy to be with everyone. I am so grateful for our faith and blessings thru all we have been thru over the last year.

What I have learned thru this, is our Heavenly Father loves us, and has answered our many prayers on Finley's behalf.
